Cleaning foam

Washing the pits for your bits

*Always use correct safety precautions by reading the label and following and directions for use when using and handling paints and solvents.

General dirt & dust

Cleaning: Vacuuming is best to remove debris or use a general house hold foaming cleaner then rinse with water. Degreaser maybe require for excessive oil.

Drying: Our Neofoam range of closed cell foams do not absorb water, however water can remain on the surface of the foam which could potentially oxidise your tools or equipment. Consider air drying your foam by placing your foam in a dry open area or use a fan or hair dryer to completely dry the surfaces before inserting tools and equipment or returning the foam to an airtight space or container.

Oils & Grease

Cleaning: A degreaser and water is best to break down greases and oils. Apply the degreaser and allow to sit for a time or as per the manufacturer’s instructions to penetrate the soiled surface then hose the foam to remove the degreaser along with any oils, grease or contaminants. You may need to rub the degreaser into heavily soiled surfaces using a cloth or sponge if water pressure is not sufficient.

*Never mix degreaser with other cleaning products

Paints & Adhesives

Cleaning: All types of paint, adhesives and epoxies either with or without hardeners will require a strong chemical cleaning agent such as paint thinners. After reading the label and following the manufacturers instructions, start by scrubbing the soiled area of the foam surface. Remove the solvent along with any paint, adhesive or other contaminant by rinsing with water.

Safety: Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions by reading the label before use. Always use solvents in a well-ventilated area and wear the correct PPE such as chemical resistant gloves, a mask and eye protection.

Chemical Resistance: Our Neofoam closed cell foams have been tested for chemical resistance for long periods of time.

Drying: Ensure that any chemicals have evaporated or been removed from each surface of the foam before returning it to storage or inserting tools and equipment.
